He's got Israel going radio gaga

articlemain

A Manchester man has given up his career in finance to help found Israel's first sports talk-radio station.

Mark Gordon, 41, originally from Whitefield, made aliyah with his family last August but has already found his calling through the microphone.

The former finance director now hosts his own show on Jerusalem's English-speaking Israel Sports Radio.

Only eight weeks into his show, Mr Gordon has interviewed comedian Ivor Baddiel about his film on antisemitism in English football. Shadow Culture Secretary Ivan Lewis has also featured, along with the editors of major English football fan magazines and blogs.

"I saw an advert on the internet and I thought it sounded fun," said Mr Gordon. "The station has been in most of Israel's national newspapers. It's had most of the Israeli basketball stars and footballers on. Not bad for a station that started in October."
