Glazer death prompts flurry of hate on Twitter

    Dozens of antisemitic comments have been posted on Twitter following the death of Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer on Wednesday.

    The American billionaire, who was descended from Lithuanian Jews, died aged 85 after suffering ill health following two strokes in 2006.

    One Twitter user, under the name Calma_Uefalona, wrote: “Stupid jew finally died….. Yes thank u Lord” (sic).

    Another, called "Mega Man", wrote: “Malcolm Glazer made his initial fortune as a slumlord praying on trailer park tenants, wow that isn’t stereotypical of a Jew at all (!)” (sic).

    Ian Millard posted on the site: “Some obscenely wealthy old Jew called Malcolm Glazer died – 'Worth' huge amounts. So take it with you now” (sic).

    Mark Gardner, director of communications at the Community Security Trust, an antisemitism watchdog, said: "It is disgusting to see this pathetic antisemitic abuse."

    A highly-successful owner of American Football team Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mr Glazer made his fortune from owning property, including shopping centres and care homes.
