GCSE students buck national trend with record-breaking grades

    In a year of declining top grade GCSE results, Hasmonean High School has reported a record performance by its year 11 students.

    One-third of its GCSE entries were graded A*, almost two-thirds A*-A and over 94 per cent between A*-C. Half the 146 candidates achieved at least eight A grades.

    At JFS, over 47 per cent of GCSEs were passed at A or A*, results surpassing the school's 2012 performance. The overall pass rate among the 299 students was 99.9 per cent and 64 achieved an A* or A in at least nine of their exams.At Borehamwood's Yavneh College, students passed 41 per cent of GCSEs at A*-A and 85 per cent scoring five at A*-C.

    Thirty per cent of grades were A*-A at Redbridge's King Solomon High, where outgoing head Spencer Lewis said that "many students have outperformed their own target grades". And Manchester's King David High GCSE candidates scored a 52 per cent pass rate at A*-A.

    Manchester Grammar broke records with 90 per cent of students getting As or A*s, with many Jewish boys achieving 10 and 11 A*s.
