Gaza activists attempt to 'occupy' roof of Scottish Parliament

articlemain

A group of student protesters are attempting to climb on to the roof of the Scottish Parliament to demonstrate against Israel.

The 13 activists are aiming to draw attention to the government's "weak" approach to the situation in Gaza.

The protesters, from the group "We Are All Hana Shalabi" are brandishing signs that call for an end to "Israeli war crimes" and "stand with the oppressed". They posted a photograph on Facebook that apparently showed members protesting high up on the building.

According to a post on their Facebook page, they have decided to "occupy" the roof "in solidarity with Gaza".

They added: "We have just occupied the roof of the Scottish Parliament in protest at the Scottish Government's failure to condemn Israel's recent attacks in Gaza. Activists are calling on the Scottish Government to support Palestinian rights, and to enforce sanctions against Israel."

Last night a truce deal was agreed between Israel and Hamas, after a week of fighting.
