Four men have been summoned to appear in court to face common assault charges following a mass brawl with a traffic warden in Stamford Hill.

The incident, which took place on January 16, saw police intervene after a dispute broke out with the four men, all Orthodox Jews, and the parking warden in Leaside Road, Hackney.

A 30 year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm - but in a statement police have now confirmed he will have no further action taken against him.

The four males - Osher Friedman, 30,  Mordecai Freidman, 31, Benjamin Beigel, 25, and Yakov Nowogrodski, 25, - have been ordered to appear at
Thames Magistrates Court on August 4 to answer charges of common assault.

At the time of the incident reports claimed the four men had performed a citizens arrest on the warden.

Hackney Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses with any new information on the incident to come forward.

A Metropolitan Police statement said:"Following an investigation of an altercation in Leaside Road, E5 on Monday, 16 January four men have
been summonsed to court.

"The Crown Prosecution Service directed that four men be summonsed to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on 4 August to answer charges of common assault against a Hackney Council enforcement officer.

"A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm at the scene will have no further action taken against him.

"There were a large number of people present at the incident. If anyone has further information or evidence and have not yet spoken to police, they can contact police in Hackney via 101 or via Twitter@MetCC."
