Tributes have been made to the former president of the United Synagogue, Sidney Frosh, who died on Monday.

Mr Frosh, who was 89, was an instrumental figure in moving orphaned children from the original Norwood orphanage to the heart of Jewish communities in North London in the 1970s.

Bernie Myers, chairman of Norwood, said: “We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sidney Frosh.

“He was a committed advocate for children with special needs and Norwood.

“Our thoughts are with his children, Stephen, Paul and Barbara.”
