FA doing 'good work' in dealing with racism

The Football Association's work to tackle antisemitism has been praised following a meeting with Jewish groups.

The governing body's approach to the fallout from Nicolas Anelka's controversial quenelle gesture was among topics discussed during the session at Wembley Stadium last week.

Representatives from the Community Security Trust, Board of Deputies, Jewish Leadership Council and Maccabi GB met members of the FA's new anti-discrimination group.

The discussion is understood to have focused on how the FA is responding to recommendations made by Labour MP John Mann and a parliamentary taskforce two years ago. New measures for dealing with racist incidents are expected to be announced before the new season kicks off in August

A CST spokesman said: "There were lots of indications of good work being done. It was definitely encouraging."
