Election result: Richmond Park

Millionaire Zac Goldsmith has secured a victory for the Conservatives in Richmond Park with a seven per cent swing from the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Goldsmith, the 35-year-old son of the late financier, Sir James Goldsmith, received 29,461 votes, 49.7 per cent of votes and 10 per cent higher tha n at the previous election.

Susan Kramer for the Liberal Democrats, who have held the seat since 1997, received 25,370 votes, 42.8 per cent of the share and a 3.8 per cent drop from the 2005 election.

Labour’s Eleanor Tunnicliffe trailed far behind with only 2,979 votes and a five per cent share of the vote.

The polling stations had a high turn out with 76.9 per cent voting.

Richmond Park was one of 23 key marginals the Tories had earmarked to win.
