Chelsea fans sing antisemitic chants again at Crystal Palace match

The chanting reportedly began when an ex-Tottenham player took possession

Chelsea fans have again allegedly sung antisemitic chants, this time at the club's Sunday match against Crystal Palace.

The Times reports the team's fans began the chants when former Tottenham Hotspurs player Andros Townend took possession for Crystal Palace early in the game, which Chelsea won 1-0.

It follows fans chanting of the word "Yid" during the club's Boxing Day clash with Watford and singing antisemitic songs during an away game against Hungarian side Vidi in Budapest earlier this month.

In the Budapest match, fans chanted "Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham are a bunch of Yids... Yiddos".

In response, a club spokesperson said: "Antisemitism and any other kind of race-related or religious hatred is abhorrent to this club and the overwhelming majority of our fans. It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities.

"We have stated this loud and clear on many occasions from the owner, the board, coaches and players.

“Any individuals that can’t summon the brain-power to comprehend this simple message and are found to have shamed the club by used using antisemitism or racist words or actions will face the strongest possible action from the club.”

Chelsea is due to face Tottenham at Wembley on January 8.
