British rabbis condemn mosque attack

articlemain

At least 40 British rabbis have signed an online statement organised by the New Israel Fund to condemn an arson attack on a mosque in Galilee.

The signatories include Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, senior rabbi of the Masorti movement: Rabbi Jackie Tabick of the North-West Surrey Reform Synagogue: Rabbi Shimshon Silkin of Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue; and Rabbi Margaret Jacobi of Birmingham Progressive Synagogue.

Nearly 900 rabbis or Jewish religious leaders from across the world have put their names to the statement which expresses outrage at the incident last weekend in the village of Tuba-Zangariya.

"We condemn those in Israel who exacerbate conflict and strife, and who insist that only one people or religion belongs to this land," the statement says.
