Accountant Jason Boas has died after a year-long fight with cancer.

Jason attracted a huge following by regularly blogging about his experiences on YouTube after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last October. He died on Tuesday night, aged 34.

His broken-hearted father Barry Boas paid tribute to his son's bravery. "He is now out of pain and that's a small mercy.

"He took the cancer on the chin and laughed in its face. He stunned us with his bravery and courage."

Jason worked for music company Harris and Trotter for 13 years. Speaking on behalf of the company, partner Ronnie Harris said: "He was a shining star in the firm and will be forever missed."

Since being diagnosed, Jason had been working to help others in similar situations, setting up No Surrender, an online support network for young people suffering from cancer.

"Jason has struck a chord with the North-West London Jewish community. I am certain that his friends will carry it on in his name," added his father.

Jason underwent surgery to remove a tumour from his pancreas in April, but over the past few months the cancer spread to his liver. He had spent the past couple of months in Israel for experimental treatment.

He is survived by his brother Andrew, 31, and parents, Denise and Barry.

The funeral is due to take place tomorrow at Waltham Abbey.
