"Biggest ever" Gefiltefest this Sunday

articlemain

Gefiltefest, the annual celebration of Jewish food, is set to take place this Sunday, with organisers expecting the biggest crowds in its six-year history.

Over 600 tickets have been sold for the festival so far, which takes place this year at JW3, the Jewish community centre, for the first time.

Lisa Halpern, communications and events manager for Gefiltefest, said: “This is the biggest Gefiltefest ever. We are overwhelmed by the response.”

The festival will boast over 40 demonstrations, workshops, panel events and interviews, as well as a literary salon where book signings will take place.

The JW3 piazza will be full of “new and exciting” kosher food stalls offering delicacies including kosher biltong, sushi and smoked salmon.

There will also be cookery demonstrations from chefs including Honey and Co’s Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer, a Jewish Vegetarian Society workshop on guilt-free desserts and MasterChef finalist Emma Spitzer. JW3’s in-house restaurant, Zest, will also be offering a special menu for festival-goers.

Tickets will be available to buy on the door but festival-goers are advised to check the JW3 website or Gefiltefest’s twitter feed @Gefiltefest for details of availability.

This year, the JC is media partner for the festival. Click here for details of our competition where you can win a bespoke meal cooked for you at home by JW3 Zest chef, Eran Tibi .
