Actor Andrew Sachs, who has been at the centre of the media storm this week, after "prank" calls from broadcasters Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand, told the JC today (Thursday) that he was "trying to forget" the whole incident.

Mr Sachs, who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers, described the past week's events as "very sad".

"It is very sad, the whole story - our family has been through a terrible time," he said.

"It is over now, fortunately, though not for the two of them - Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand. I feel a little for them. They are now going through it, and will have to restart their careers.

"For my family, it was very unpleasant, but it is done now, and cannot be undone."
