Woody Allen to play the Royal Albert Hall

The July concert will have no set playlist, with the musicians not knowing 'what song Allen will call out next'.

Woody Allen is set to play jazz at the Royal Albert Hall this summer in a one-off show.

He will be performing “an energetic collection of improvisations” with the New Orleans Jazz Band on July 2.

According to the venue’s website, there is to be "no playlist, nor do the musicians know what song Allen, in collaboration with band director Eddy Davis, will call out next".

The director is a keen jazz clarinettist, who often plays with the group at New York’s Carlyle Hotel.

In 2012, his missed the Oscar ceremony where he won an award for his film Midnight in Paris because he was playing a concert.
