Wonder Woman banned in Lebanon

articlemain

Warner Brothers’ latest superhero epic, Wonder Woman, has been banned in Lebanon because its star, Gal Gadot, served in the Israeli Defence Force before becoming an actress.

Commercially, this will have little impact on the film’s bottom line – as reported by Hollywood Reporter Wonder Woman was only booked to play in 15 Lebanese cinemas.

A sneak preview screening took place yesterday evening as planned but tonight’s premiere was cancelled at short notice.

The decision was made by Lebanon’s six-man Ministry of Economy committee. The country is still officially at war with Israel.

The film is expected to earn between 80 and 90 million dollars when it opens in the US and is predicted to perform similarly internationally.
