The chai sign is the least recognised jewellery symbol among Britons, according to a survey by jewellers ChloBo.

But although 71 per cent were unfamiliar with a chai, maybe more remarkable is that 29 per cent were able to identify it, which says something positive about multicultural Britain.

The hamsa hand, to ward off the evil eye, baffled 61 per cent. But the magen David was one of the best known with only 22 per cent failing to recognise it.
