The Nobel-prize winning bagel

The humble bagel found an unusual role this week – as a prop to explain the science behind the award of the 2016 Nobel Prize for Physics.

Nobel committee member Thors Hans Hansson produced the roll along with a pretzel and a cinnamon bun to demonstrate the concept of topology (the first has one hole, the second two and the third none).
