Alan Sugar underwent urgent heart surgery while vacationing in Florida last month, it has emerged.

Lord Sugar, 69, was fitted with a stent to improve blood flow to the heart after tests showed that one of his arteries had narrowed.

A spokesperson reported that he responded well to the surgery. “He was on the mend within a day and cleared to resume exercise after a week. He's in perfect medical health and plays tennis and rides his bike for 40 miles regularly,” the spokesperson said.

The multi-millionaire businessman and host of The Apprentice is already back on his feet. He was seen playing tennis with American legend Jimmy Connors over the weekend.

Just two weeks ago, he tweeted a picture of a massive English breakfast - including rashers of bacon - accompanied by the caption “My cardiologist came to breakfast. I can’t understand why he told me off.”
