Saban's Power Rangers coming to UK cinemas

The superhero franchise is owned by Haim Saban, the American Israeli billionaire.

Next week will see the new Power Rangers movie hit screens in the UK.

However, eagle-eyed observers will have seen that the film is not just being marketed as “Power Rangers”, but “Saban’s Power Rangers”. This is a reference to Haim Saban, the Israeli-American billionaire and major donor to Israeli causes, who was the co-creator of the franchise with fellow Israeli Shuki Levy. Although Power Rangers spent seven years in the Walt Disney stable, Mr Saban became its owner again in 2010.

In 2013, Mr Saban famously convinced Simon Cowell to sing the Power Rangers theme tune to raise money at a gala event for Friends of the IDF, with the music mogul also donating £100,000 towards the charity.

The movie will be released on March 24.
