The playwright and actor Steven Berkoff has said he wants to play Harvey Weinstein in a one-act play he has written about the disgraced Hollywood mogul.

Mr Berkoff, who is renowned for playing villians, said he was on his third draft of 'Harvey' and had spent six months learning the role.

Mr Weinstein was brought down by allegations of sexual misconduct in October last year, including rape and sexual harassment.

Mr Berkoff told the Guardian: "This is a creature who offers freedom, offers to change your life, because once you hear that magic word ‘Action!’ – wow, you’ll be changed from this small, simpering B-movie actress.

"Suddenly on the screen, you’re touching magic, you become immortal. He’s offering that for just a few minutes in the shower."

No theatre has yet agreed to stage the show.

Mr Berkoff adopted what the Guardian described as a "creepy American accent" to impersonate Mr Weinstein saying: "Just let me watch you in the shower, baby. Don’t lift your eyes, honey."

Mr Weinstein was recorded asking a model to watch him shower.

Since the initial allegations broke, he has been accused by dozens of women of sexual misconduct.
