Cooking a perfect plate of bacon may not be the ideal task for a Jewish reality TV contestant. So perhaps it was no surprise when Rachel Stevens was eliminated from Celebrity MasterChef last Friday.

The former S Club 7 singer fell short of a semi-final spot despite impressing judges with a perfectly poached egg.

She was unfazed by the bacon task, although she drew the ire of judge Gregg Wallace with her “awful” hash browns.

Ms Stevens then impressed with partner Debbie McGee as they fed 80 diners in a catering-style task.

“Quite a challenge today, but it’s going to make Christmas a doddle, right,” 39-year-old Ms Stevens quipped.

But she then fell at the final hurdle, as her pea soup and pistachio-crusted salmon disappointed.
