It has been quite a year for Naomi Alderman, who has already won the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction for her latest novel, The Power. Now the same book has made it onto the New York Times's list of 100 notable books for 2017,where it was described as "fierce and unsettling" and also been named as the winner of the fiction category in Foyles Books of the Year.

Foyles described the book as "weaving an utterly absorbing narrative around the lives of characters around the world as they bear witness to society's violent transformation,"  adding, "If you like your page-turners whip-smart and ferociously current, this is the book for you."

Alderman's first novel, Disobedience has also been turned into a film, which is due for worldwide release next April.
