Missing Yidden in the Midlands

articlemain

The Diary has sent an investigation squad to Leicester whose entire Jewish population has vanished. At least according to The Times, where Giles Coren wrote at the weekend — in emphatic caps — that there were “NO JEWS AT ALL” there.

The Jewish Year Book lists both an Orthodox and Progressive synagogue in the city.

Could a surreptitious exodus have taken place, or a mass abduction by antisemitic aliens?

Leicester City Council’s website does not specify any Jews in its breakdown of local religion from the last Census. But you’ll find in national stats that there were 183 of them who identified in 2011.
