Mayim to skip Limmud

articlemain

Mayim Bialik, star of the American TV comedy The Big Bang Theory, has pulled out of the Limmud winter conference in Birmingham this month.

A spokesman for the actress said: “unfortunately, Mayim's work schedule has changed and she is no longer available to attend. She sends her regrets and hopes to be a part of this event next year if her schedule allows”.

She had been due to present three sessions at the cross-communal event.

A Limmud spokesman said  " We look forward to welcoming Mayim to future Limmud events and underline our excitement at the diverse and rich programme due to be unveiled shortly for Limmud Conference 2016, which will boast over 1,300 sessions from 600 presenters offering 'something for everyone'."

Ms Bialik posts regularly on the “things that move on” section on the blog she founded, GrokNation.

In an interview with the JC in September, Ms Bialik said: "I prefer to pray in a modern Orthodox setting, but there are times when I pray with mixed seating [or] go to Reform synagogues.

"Because of the way my schedule and life works I don't always get off for every single holiday that I would like to observe but I believe in the structure of Jewish law and I believe in the expansiveness and flexibility of the Jewish people."

The full Limmud programme is due to be posted shortly on its website.
