Israeli singer sizzles in Big Mac contest

Oneg Israel, a final year high-school student in Ashkelon, works part-time in McDonald’s. But her spell at the grill could help her fulfil the dream of a singing career.

She has reached the final of the company’s “Voice of McDonald’s” contest. After seeing off 55,000 Israeli hopefuls, she won the Asia heat in Hong Kong and heads to Florida in spring for the chance of a $25,000 prize.
“My dream is to be as successful as Adele,” she said. “After school, I’m going to record my own CD and see how it goes.”
