In tune with mosque melody

Israeli Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, visiting London this week, told this story about his father, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. When Rav Ovadia was a chazan in Egypt, he surprised his congregants with a new melody for a prayer. They were enchanted. Where did it come from, they asked. He heard it when walking past a local mosque.
