Hershey Felder has carved himself a unique niche in musical theatre. His performances as musical luminaries such as Gershwin, Chopin, Beethoven and Liszt have all drawn enormous praise. Yet he finds time between all these note-perfect performances of other writers’ classics to compose his own music, including an opera based on the story of Noah’s Ark, and interview Holocaust survivors for Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation.

Now the Canadian polymath is bringing two of his highly-regarded one-man shows to the UK. This autumn he will bring to life the music and personal stories of Irving Berlin and Leonard Bernstein in two musical plays, which will alternate at London’s The Other Palace.

In Maestro Felder plays Leonard Bernstein, telling the behind-the-scenes stories of musicals and orchestral works such as West Side Story, Candide and On The Town.

As if that were not enough, every other night he will be embodying the spirit of Irving Berlin, the child refugee from Russia who became America’s greatest songwriter, penning immortal classics such as There’s No Business Like Show Business, White Christmas, Puttin’ On The Ritz and God Bless America.

The season starts on Friday September 22 with Felder's take on Berlin and continues until Thursday October 5 with a final performance of Maestro, Felder’s tribute to Leonard Bernstein
