The world’s most famous archaeologist will return to the big screen in summer 2019.

A fifth Indiana Jones film has been announced by Disney, with Harrison Ford reprising the title role, and Steven Spielberg directing.

And the Jewish director had comforting words for fans regarding the latest instalment in the blockbuster franchise, saying “the one thing I will tell you is that I’m not killing off Harrison at the end of it.”

Alan Horn, the chairman of Disney, said: “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019.

“It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

In a rare move, the studio has announced an exact date for the release – fans of the movies can clear their schedules for July 19, 2019.
