Derby day for chief rabbis

articlemain

The 1pm start for the installation of Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis in St John’s Wood on Sunday is unusually early.

But could the lunchtime kick-off have been arranged for the sake of football fans, who would like to get to the Arsenal v Spurs derby taking place later that afternoon?

I wouldn’t be surprised if a giant screen is erected to show the game live at the reception which follows the installation.

Outgoing Chief Lord Sacks is a Gooner, while his successor Rabbi Mirvis prays for Spurs.
