Drake was crowned best International Male Solo Artist at last night’s Brit Awards.

The Jewish rapper was unable to collect the award in person, due to being on tour, but recorded a video message to thank fans.

Director and Hollywood mover and shaker Ben Winston also received a special mention for his work on One Direction’s video for their song History.

Simon Cowell presented the award for Best British Music Video to the band for the video which Mr Winston directed, and personally thanked the director.

The Syco boss told the audience: “You, the boys, the fans and the person who made this video - Ben Winston - thank you very much indeed and I really appreciate it.”

Band member Liam Payne accepted the accolade from Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger and said: “This is amazing. Thank you so much! We cannot believe we are still winning these. Thank you very much.”
