London lawyer Vicki Prais is off to Armenia. Ms Prais, who works for the British Government on a variety of high-profile anti-terrorism and national security cases, has been invited as an expert to take part in next week’s Council of Europe seminar.

The two-day event focuses on criminal procedure under the European Convention on Human Rights and related extradition issues. She will give a presentation and train Armenian judges about the convention.

“This is definitely one of the most interesting things I will have done,” Ms Prais, 36, tells People. “It will be very exciting and a real personal challenge for me.”

Ms Prais has been working for the British Government for a little more than a year. She has previously worked for the Immigration Advisory Service, which claims to be Britain’s largest charity providing representation and advice in immigration and asylum law. She spent 2005 working for the United Nations in Kosovo. “This was amazing. It was a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity being in a post-conflict environment — an experience I never would have had if I stayed in North London.”

Ms Prais, who has an MA in human rights and civil law, is the co-chair of Renecassin — an organisation of Jewish people committed to the promotion of human rights. She lives in West Hampstead, North-West London.
