Taryn Edwards swaps dog breeding for a career in luxury lingerie

articlemain

It is a most unlikely career change, but former dog breeder Taryn Edwards is entering the world of retail, specifically lingerie.

Mrs Edwards, 52, already runs a lingerie shop in Wales and Radlett, Herts, and she is now planning to open one in Tel Aviv.

In 2008, four of her dogs qualified for Crufts. But the mother-of-three has abandoned the breeding - she once had nine dogs - to concentrate on the lingerie. And apparently, there isn't much difference. She tells People: "Both require you to have a good business head. Even though there is no money in dog breeding, if you want to get to the top, you have to put everything in it.

"My parents were always in business and I saw the opportunity to buy a shop in Wales so I went for it."

Why Tel Aviv? Her daughter Carly Gueta, who is married to famous Israeli basketball player Eliran Gueta, lives there.

Besides, she says: "There is definitely the demand for top-end lingerie shops there. Even though there is a recession, there is always money at the top-end and if people want to buy something they will."

A former employee at the US embassy in Israel, Mrs Edwards spent time living in Israel and London, before moving to Cilcennin in Wales.
