Katie Vogel turns her reality-TV music into a real-world album

articlemain

Singer and online reality star Katie Vogel, aka Katie V, has released her debut song collection on vinyl, written during her time on Green-Eyed World, a hit web series.

Green-Eyed World was a reality TV show which followed north London’s Miss Vogel, 23, as she travelled to the United States in search of a career in the music business.

She was picked from over 200 women to star in the programme.

The resulting EP, From Under the Covers, introduces her voice to many for the first time.

Her style? “I often say that if Etta James and Freddie Mercury had had a love child, that would be me,” she tells People.

“Taking part in the show was an incredible experience. I learned so much about myself and my music.

“It was a rollercoaster journey and I had so much fun. Music is where my heart lies.”

A multi-instrumentalist, Miss Vogel started playing the piano aged five. She has written with partners including the Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock and Chaz Jankel, of Ian Dury and The Blockheads fame.

From Under The Covers is a collection of songs heavily influenced by the swing jazz era of the 1950s and 1960s.
