Havi Mond is the Orthodox face of a leading-edge fashion label

Israeli beauty Havi Mond has been picked to be the new face of fashion label James Lakeland. The supermodel features in the brand’s 2010 autumn/winter collection catalogue.

Jewish designer James Lakeland founded the eponymous company. For Ms Mond — who is Orthodox, keeps Shabbat and loves clothes — it is a pretty good match.

She tells People: “James is great — I have worked for him before. His wife read an article about me and then James approached me.” The 25-year-old, who is married to Arni Gozlam, the owner of the Isola Bella restaurant in Hendon, north London, has been modelling professionally for the past five years. She has fronted big campaigns for brands including French Connection, Armani Jeans, Laura Ashley, Toni & Guy, and Asos.com.

Is she under pressure to be thin? “There is always a pressure as my work is based on what I look like but I don’t really diet. I have a sweet tooth but try not to eat too much junk food. I eat healthily; fish, stir-frys and vegetables.” She adds: “I’m not a size zero. I’m a size eight.”

Ms Mond says she will continue to model for as long as she can. She also has dreams of opening her own clothes boutique.
