Solicitor Emily Lew has a different case on her hands. The litigation associate at Herbert Smith is organising a 60-mile bike ride to raise money for the Gaucher's Association, a charity that supports sufferers of Gaucher's disease - a rare genetic disorder in which abnormal amounts of fats are stored in certain body cells. Around 100 cyclists will take part in the Gaucher's Association Charity Cycle Ride between London and Cambridge on Sunday September 5.
Mrs Lew, 27, tells People: "The Gaucher's Association is a cause very close to my heart. I volunteered for the charity for more than five years, which I have found inspiring." Gaucher's disease is the most common lysosomal storage disorder among the Ashkenazi Jews. Between one in 10 and one in 15 Ashkenazi Jews are believed to carry the gene that causes it.
