Liverpool academic Professor Bernard Jackson has completed a rare hat-trick. Having been appointed chair in Law and Jewish Studies at Liverpool Hope, he has now held chairs at all three Liverpool universities.

A former Professor of Law at John Moores University (the old Liverpool Polytechnic), he also completed a stint as Queen Victoria Professor of Law at Liverpool University. Professor Jackson, 64, tells People: “I endorse the academic and critical study of faith and faith communities, in a spirit of mutual respect and without any hint of proselytisation.

“In this context, I believe that every faith and faith community is enriched by interaction with others, as history attests, and that in the present world nothing is more important that interaction between all three Abrahamic faiths.”

Professor Jackson is a council member of Allerton Synagogue.
