Israel has proposed a deal which would offer safe passage to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in return for the release of all the remaining hostages according to an Israeli official.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Israel’s Coordinator for Hostages and the Missing Gal Hirsch said Israel had already offered the possibility of giving Sinwar safe passage out of Gaza.

Hirsch first mentioned the idea with CNN’s Jessica Dean on Sunday saying that if all remaining 101 hostages are returned, “We will agree to build safe passage to the chief terrorist, the new Hitler, Sinwar – safe passage to him and whoever he wants to join him out of Gaza.”

Hirsch said if Hamas released the hostages and Gaza could be “demilitarised and deradicalised,” the war could come to an end.

On Tuesday, in an interview with Bloomberg, he confirmed that Israel has already proposed safe passage to Sinwar.

“I’m ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him,” he told Bloomberg. “We want the hostages back. We want demilitarisation, de-radicalisation of course – a new system that will manage Gaza.”

He told Bloomberg that the offer of safe passage had been put on the table a day and a half ago.

He did not say what the response was to the offer – or whether there had been a reply – but he added that Israel would also be open to releasing prisoners as part of a deal.

Sinwar was one the main architects of the October 7 massacre in Israel.

Hamas terrorist killed 1,200 in the atrocities and took more than 250 people hostages.
