Violence escalates on Gaza border

articlemain

Rockets continued to rain down on Israel on Friday morning, as violence on the border with the Gaza Strip escalated.

One rocket was fired into the Negev early on Friday morning, although there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and another two rockets exploded in the Ashkelon Regional Council around midday, also causing no damage or injuries.

Israeli air strikes targeted Palestinian militants in central Gaza yesterday in response to earlier rocket attacks.

The Palestinian Ma'an news agency said the attacks had killed at least one person and left 13 injured, but there was no independent confirmation of these claims. The strike followed five rockets fired into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip earlier on Thursday.

According to YNet, an IDF statement said: “The IDF regrets injuries caused to innocents but stresses that Hamas is accountable.”
