articlemain

Israel has made it into the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.

Voters from around Europe selected its entry There Must Be Another Way, performed by Noa and Mira Awad, at the first of two semi-finals.

Joining Israel in the final on Saturday night will be 24 other countries, including the United Kingdom.

Millions of television viewers tuned in to watch Noa and Awad, an Arab Christian, sing. Afterwards the pair rejected accusations that they being used as propogandists to promote an image of inter-racial harmony in Israel. They said that they had been singing together for over eight years, and that “no one had dictated anything to them”.
