Moshe Dayan’s grave vandalised

articlemain

The tomb of Israeli war hero and former Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Dayan was vandalised on Monday night.

The grave of Mr Dayan, who died on October 16 1981, was covered in messages that read: "The minister of failure, in the name of the fallen".

Yael Dayan, his daughter, told Israeli Army Radio that she believed the attack was committed by family or friends of fallen soldiers who were killed in the 1967 Six-Day War and 1973 Yom Kippur war, when he was defence minister.

An estimated 2,700 soldiers were killed in the 1973 war. Eight hundred Israelis died in the 1967 war.
