More arrests over 'price tag' Israel mosque attack

articlemain

Three people have been arrested in connection with the arson attack on a mosque in northern Israel last month.

In total, more than eight people have been arrested over the alleged "price tag" attack, which saw vandals set fire to a mosque in the northern Galilee village of Tuba Zangaria. The attackers scrawled graffiti on the walls and copies of the Koran were damaged.

According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, one of those arrested at the end of last week was a minor, while all three came from West Bank settlements.

"They were arrested for acts of vandalism, including participation in the burning of a mosque," he said.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the time that the act was "outrageous" and went against the values of the state. He said he had ordered intelligence agency Shin Bet to find those behind it and bring them to justice.
