A Knesset member has compared the British to “dogs” and claimed the UK government has no right to judge Israel.

MK Arieh Eldad, a member of the extreme right-wing National Union party, was expressing his anger over Britain’s apparent decision to expel an Israeli diplomat after an investigation by the Serious Organised Crime Agency into the forging of British passports.

The passports were used by a hit squad which killed a Hamas terrorist in Dubai.

Mr Eldad compared the British to “dogs” and accused them of having no loyalty. He also said that he believed a British diplomat should be expelled in return.

He added: “I think the British are being hypocritical and I do not wish to insult dogs here, since some dogs show true loyalty. Who gave the British the right to judge us on the war on terror?"

"My father held a seder in Latroun for 500 prisoners. He sang ‘Chad Gadya’ to the British prison commander. The question was posed [by the Briton]: ‘If the goat is righteous, then the cat is evil, then the dog is righteous, then the stick is evil – and in the end it turns out that, heaven forbid, God Almighty is evil.’ What is the answer he gave to the Briton?

“The answer was that 'the goat may be righteous, the cat may be evil, but you are the dog. You Briton. Who gave you the right to judge?'"

Fellow National Union MK Michael Ben-Ari echoed Mr Eldad’s sentiments. He said: "Dogs are usually loyal, the British may be dogs, but they are not loyal to us. They seem to be loyal to the antisemitic establishment.

"Unfortunately, the Israeli government and Israeli diplomacy play into their hands. We have learned that a dog must be called by its name. This is antisemitism disguised as anti-Zionism."
