Justin Bieber hits Israel ahead of Tel Aviv show

The biggest teenage pop star on the planet has landed in Israel.

Justin Bieber, the singing sensation behind hits including Baby and One Time is to play Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv on Thursday.

The 17-year-old Canadian is staying in Tel Aviv's Sheraton hotel for the week. After arriving, the teenager tweeted that he was jet lagged and stopped for a quick breakfast at Jaffa's historical Abulafia bakery.

His itinerary for the trip includes a meeting with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and tours of the Dead Sea, Masada and Caesarea.

Danny Ayalon, Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister, wrote on Twitter: "Welcome Justin Bieber to Israel! I know you will enjoy your time here as much as many Israelis will enjoy having you here."

A group of 700 children from Sderot and other communities in southern Israel affected by the onslaught of rocket fire from over the Gaza border have been given free tickets to the concert.
