Journey ends for Israel's globetrotting cyclist

After four years, 42 continents and countless scrapes and bruises, it is finally time for one Israeli globetrotter to get off his bike.

Earlier today Roie "Jinji" Sadan reached Sydney, the last stop on his round-the-world marathon ride. Members of the Zionist Council of New South Wales were at the Sydney Opera House to cheer him on his arrival.

Mr Sadan, 29, has travelled 40,000 miles since he began pedalling in 2007.

And despite being hit by a car in Bolivia, robbed at gunpoint in Mexico, bitten by a wild dog in Peru and contracting malaria in Mozambique, he pushed on.

The £40,000 ride, on a 27-gear bicycle built specially for his journey, was sponsored by Israeli water company Mey Eden.

His epic journey will be marked next month with a celebration at the Western wall in Jerusalem. "It's a weird feeling because this is the end," he said.
