A Jewish man was reportedly shot in the West Bank yesterday morning.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was attacked by a passing car near a bus station that is often used for hitchhiking, southwest of Nablus.

According to a report on Ha'aretz news, the victim had already hitchhiked from Karnei Shomron to the Kedumim junction.

The unidentified man, who was shot twice in the leg, was treated on site by Magen David Adom and then transferred to the Meir Hospital in Kfar Sava where he is said to be stable.

Police reportedly told Ha'aretz that the victim was asked for directions to Nablus before he was shot. Other people standing near the station were also shot at, but no one was injured.

“I saw that [the man] had been shot in both legs,” a witness reportedly told Arutz Sheva news. “[A person asked] him for directions – I heard a shot and then the vehicle moved.”

Police are still searching for the attacker.

The Israeli Defence Force have increased security in the West Bank after six Israelis were injured by stone throwing last Friday. A two-year-old girl suffered severe head injuries after her car was hit by rocks and subsequently crashed near Ariel last Thursday.
