Jerusalem marathon to have a global feel

articlemain

Athletes from around the world have already registered for the second annual Jerusalem marathon taking place in March.

The marathon, on March 16, includes a full route, a half marathon route and a 10km run. Organisers are expecting more than 1,000 participants from around 40 countries including the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as Indonesia, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore and China, with an estimated 600 running the full marathon.

Several leading Israeli charities, including the Israel Cancer Society, and Zichron Menachem, will benefit from runners, who seek sponsorships and donations for their participation.

Ilanit Melchior, the Jerusalem Development Authority tourism director, said: "This is a unique opportunity – a marathon that truly touches the mind, body and soul."
