Disappointment as Coldplay back Palestine song

articlemain

British band Coldplay have angered Israeli fans after they backed the musicians behind a song about Israeli "injustice" and human rights abuses.

Earlier today Coldplay alerted fans of their official Facebook page to OneWorld's 'Freedom for Palestine' single," and posted a link to its website.

The song features a number of musicians and is a collaboration between War on Want and One World, and is endorsed by groups including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Jews for Justice for Palestinians and the Stop the War Coalition.

Within three hours, the post had attracted more than 2,600 "likes" – shows of appreciation – and nearly 1,00 comments.

While some users praised Coldplay for posting the link, others expressed their anger.

Israeli Danit Ezra wrote that her favourite band had become "one big disappointment.

"I suggest that you…come over here and really see [what] it like to live under constant threat," she said.

"It's hypocrisy to live in the UK and to lecture us like you have the slightest clue how it's like to live here."

Another said: "Such a shame that you [would] rather take sides in this argument, rather than stick to the good music you do."
