Judge Richard Goldstone's admission that there were flaws in his report on Israeli military conduct in Gaza two years ago was just personal opinion, according to the UN committee that commissioned the probe.
A spokesman for the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), which Judge Goldstone derided as "skewed against Israel" in a newspaper article last week, said the judge's reversal on key facts about Operation Cast Lead was not a view shared by the committee.
Cedric Sapey of the HRC told Israel's Ynet that the committee would not respond to Mr Goldstone's remarks.
He said the HRC would only take action on the report if Judge Goldstone and his colleagues sent an official letter of retraction.
