Explosion near bus station in Jerusalem

articlemain

Early reports suggest that 25 people have been injured, three seriously after a bomb exploded in central Jerusalem. Al Jihad al Islami (Islamic Jihad) have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Micky Rosenfeld, the foreign press spokesman for the Israel Police, said the explosion came from a bomb in a bag which exploded when the bus passed and was not a suicide attack. Witnesses told the BBC that the force of the blast shook buildings hundreds of metres away.

Police told the Jerusalem Post that a bomb exploded next to Egged Bus 74 outside Binyanei Hauma in central Jerusalem.

Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has delayed a planned visit to Moscow in wake of the attack.
