Duran Duran to perform in Israel

articlemain

Hot on the heels of Justin Bieber and Mark Ronson, British band Duran Duran has announced plans to perform in Israel for the first time in 17 years.

The 1980s New Wave band behind hits including My Own Way and Planet Earth, once described as "the prettiest boys in rock", played in both Haifa and Tel Aviv in 1994.

Simon Le Bon, Duran Duran's lead singer, spent part of his gap year before university at Kibbutz Gvulot in the Negev. He later wrote a song titled Tel Aviv about his experiences in Israel.

Duran Duran will perform in Tel Aviv on July 30 as part of their "All You Need is Now" European tour.

Mr Le Bon said: "This is an important tour for us and we’re glad that Israel is part of it."
